The homeowner and avid outdoorsman’s primary wish for the new master bath design was to feel that he was showering in the great outdoors.
His spouse, a physician, requested complete black out motorized draperies for the master bedroom. Not a sliver of light was to penetrate the windows when sleeping and seeking respite from her busy profession.
Two very opposite needs and desires for the newly designed master suite.
I solved this by using an eye level horizontal window within the shower for the very tall outdoorsman, while large bay windows and skylights provided an effect of openness while still providing privacy. Travertine stone, and warm woods, matte glaze mosaic tile provide a clean organic statement to bring the outdoors in.
The wall of windows in the master bedroom have motorized contemporary styled draperies for softness that create a nightly sanctuary. The position of the 3-sided fireplace provides symmetry in the bedroom while the cantilevered stone hearth and shelf adds interest and an edgy modern style. The suite is unified with custom warm wood built-ins. The mirror backdrop above the dresser reflects the outdoors back into the space with a push of a button as the day begins.
